This is a commercial (advertiser-supported) site, but it contains a great deal of information about addiction and recovery. Its FAQ page includes some of the most commonly-asked questions from those concerned that they, a friend or loved one may be suffering from addiction.

Another independent resource page, specifically focusing on teenage alcoholism and drug addiction. Links include information for individuals and families. A few of the links are outdated or no longer work, but worth a look.

Provides information on a variety of mental health topics. Combines original articles with links to outside sources. Hosts topical online forums and discussion groups. Advertiser supported, but independent and comprehensive.

An independent, advertiser-supported resource site. Covers alcoholism, addiction and mental health issues, including treatment options and providers. The site is well-maintained, attracts a lot of readers, and has a broad range of topical links. Also hosts online recovery and substance abuse forums.

Independent news and information site on all things recovery. Newsletter format, with a good resources page of their own.

A recovery weblog. This is an active blog, with miscellaneous coverage of recovery news, issues, quotes and humor. If you already read blogs, this is a good introduction to recovery-related ones.

A new independent recovery site, with selective coverage of relevant addiction and rehabilitation-related topics. The language is informal, and a welcome change from clinically-oriented sites.

A personal site supportive of Methadone Anonymous (see above), and designed for those undergoing methadone, buprenorphine and other medically-dispensed chemically assisted addiction treatments. Includes reader information and support forums.
